Nebraska Legislative Bill 742 established the Nebraska Public Adjusters Licensing Act and changed licensing laws in the state for public adjusters. The Act, which became law in 2018, states that anyone who wishes to become a public adjuster must have a specific public adjuster license. Prior to the Act, anyone with a Nebraska Insurance Consultant license could also act as a public adjuster.
A part of the licensing process includes obtaining a $20,000 surety bond.
